We are seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to join our technical team at a leading building materials manufacturer. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
Our client has a long-standing history in Ireland, operating advanced, energy-efficient production facilities that deliver high-quality products to meet both Irish and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and maintain the
Siemens PCS7 central control system
to ensure optimal performance.
* Act as
Network Owner
, overseeing servers, control system software, and communications.
* Design and program software for projects and plant modifications.
* Perform software updates, troubleshooting, PID loop tuning, and provide technical support on control systems.
* Commission and verify signals for projects and modifications.
* Maintain operator stations and plant visualization software.
* Coordinate software uploads and upgrades.
* Liaise with specialist engineers from control system suppliers.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Minimum
5 years of hands-on industry experience
plus a degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
* Proficiency in
PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager, and WinCC
.
* Strong knowledge of Windows OS, security, and network configuration.
* Familiarity with PLC programming languages:
CFC, FBD, STL
.
* Exposure to SQL and a high-level programming language.
* Understanding of system archiving/restoration and OT cybersecurity practices.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Strong technical expertise and business acumen.
