Ballincollig Community Nursing Home is a state of the art home, designed with residents' care, comfort, enjoyment, security and convenience in mind – and the provision of the highest standard of care 24 hours a day. We are currently hiring for Part Time Healthcare Assistants to join our multidisciplinary team on a full time basis. Twilight Shift 8pm to 12am. Purpose of the RoleThe Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents via the Named Nurse concept. As such a team member, the Care Assistant contributes to the fulfillment of Mowlam Healthcare's philosophy of care. What does this role entail?Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering quality person-centred care to meet the needs of residentsGetting to know residents' interests and needs providing attention, support and companionshipPromoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possibleEnabling and assisting residents to maintain their personal appearance /hygiene needs whilst always maintaining their dignityEnabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfortParticipating, organising and carrying out social activitiesSustaining high level of communication between resident's family and staff developing good relationshipsAssisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the homeContributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the homeAny other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management.All posts are subject to satisfactory references, medical and Garda vetting. What are the qualifications/skills needed?FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent (in process or completed)Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards) preferableExcellent communication skillsEmpathetic, kind and caring approachCan work independently or part of a teamAbility to maintain a positive attitudeFluent level of English both written and oralAll posts are subject to satisfactory references, medical and Garda vetting.
