Legal technology and innovation are central to how we serve our clients — and we are now seeking a leader to further enhance our existing capabilities in this area.
The Role The Head of Legal Technology and Innovation will play a pivotal leadership role in the launch and long-term management of Mason Hayes & Curran LLP's new centralised Legal Technology and Innovation function.
Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the successful candidate will initially work closely with a Working Group of senior leaders and our external consultancy partner to steer the internal and external launch of the function.
This is a strategic position focused on embedding legal technology and innovation at the core of how we deliver legal services, run our business and support our clients.
The role involves cross-functional collaboration with practice groups, business services teams, legal technology partners and clients to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, service delivery, digital experience and innovation maturity.
Key Responsibilities Lead the Legal Technology and Innovation function, delivering the strategic roadmap developed by the Working Group with particular focus on client-facing technology solutions, internal process improvement and innovation engagement.
Oversee the identification, procurement and implementation of legal technology tools, ensuring alignment with existing systems and compliance with data security and governance standards.
Enhance legal service delivery across all practice areas through the adoption of collaborative platforms, document review software, matter management tools and AI-driven legal applications.
Identify and prioritise automation opportunities to increase productivity, reduce manual work and enhance efficiency across legal and operational teams.
Build a firmwide culture of innovation by running structured idea programmes, facilitating workshops, and delivering training that empowers staff to embrace new ways of working.
Collaborate closely with key internal teams including HR, IT, Finance, Marketing, L&D, Client Development, Bids, Legal, Knowledge Management, and Library Services to ensure strategic and operational cohesion.
Define, track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate ROI and maintain momentum and buy-in across the partnership and wider firm.
Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 10 years' experience in legal technology, innovation or a closely related field, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role within a law firm, consultancy, or legal technology provider.
Proven ability to deliver complex legal technology and innovation projects and lead firmwide change programmes.
Deep understanding of legal technology platforms, data protection standards and the potential of emerging technologies such as AI and automation.
Strategic thinker with a commercial mindset and the ability to translate legal technology solutions into business value.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with a track record of building trust and alignment with senior stakeholders.
Degree-qualified in law, technology, business or a related discipline.
Legal practice experience or relevant certifications (e.g.
PMP, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma) are desirable.
