To assume responsibility for the day to day running of the scheme and ensure as far as possible, the safety and well being of the residents. 22.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri. Description: To encourage tenants to make the scheme into a mutually supportive environment for themselves, friends, relatives and other groups in the area. To identify support needs and participate in support planning to ensure adequate provision for the tenants, consistent with enabling tenants to retain the maximum possible level of independence. To undertake and ensure the proper administration, management and maintenance of the scheme in accordance with the Associations standards and procedures. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Make daily contact with all tenants. Answer emergency calls and summon assistance as necessary and appropriate. To recognise and identify the support needs of tenants and report factually to the appropriate agencies (and where appropriate to relatives). To participate in support planning and undertake direct hands-on support in emergencies until the required assistance arrives. To participate as necessary in the assessment of the support needs of potential tenants and participate in planning their care. To record and keep under review the effectiveness and appropriateness of care and support services. Welcome new tenants, and introduce them to the services and facilities of the scheme ensuring they are properly instructed in the use of laundry/communal kitchen equipment; warden call system; fire alarm system and emergency procedures. To line manage and train staff employed by Ireland within the scheme. To complete all administrative duties required in accordance with the Scheme Managers Handbook. To adhere to the Associations policy with regard to collecting rents, reconciling and lodging money. To administer the collection and recording of funds for TV licensing on the scheme. To carry out fire drills as recommended by the local fire prevention officer and observe and promote the Associations health and safety policy. Encourage social activities by tenants, particularly those which include older people from the wider community. Encourage the use of the scheme facilities by other organisations working with older people. To ensure the repair and maintenance of the scheme in accordance with the Associations procedures. To supervise the cleaning of common parts and ensure that the arrangements for gardening services, window cleaning, etc are satisfactorily maintained. To take part in the recruitment of domestic/relief staff, as necessary in accordance with the Associations procedures and Fair Employment Legislation. To attend and participate in warden link groups, other training meetings and conferences. To provide cover for other Scheme Managers from time to time. Criteria: 2 years experience working with the elderly within a formal setting. Basic IT Literacy Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to use personal initiative. Ability to relate to residents and staff. Good organisational skills. Good housekeeping skills Knowledge of social services system. Administrative experience. Supervisory experience.
