Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this post is to work as part of the nursing team in the provision of nursing care for children and their families in an emergency care unit.
· To provide direct patient care to patients in an emergency setting. Performing critical assessments, administering treatment, and working to stabilize acutely unwell patients, alongside the wider healthcare team.
· To work within a nursing team and ensure the provision of high-quality care. Liaising, when appropriate, with GP Liaison Nurse, CNS, ANPs, Social Work, Tusla, and other HCSPs.
· To ensure the provision of a high standard of care to the children and their extended family is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the hospital.
· To assist in the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
· To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.
Essential Criteria:
· Registered Children’s/Registered General Nurse with acute paediatric experience. Please note – Paediatric experience is not required for theatres, ED or ICU
· Can show evidence of acute hospital experience in Theatre, ED or ICU if applying for a Staff Nurse post in these areas.
· Proven track record in continuing professional development.
