About Us Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation, funded by the HSE under Section 38. We support people with intellectual disabilities through residential care, day services, independent living, job advocacy, and vocational training. Purpose of the Post Reporting to the Director of Care, Day Services, the Social Care Leader will be on a Permanent contract. General Duties Have the flexibility to work across all of Day Services to meet the needs of the service. Take the lead role in setting day services strategy for the people we support. Play an active role in the wider development of day services as required. Promote best practice as per New Directions. To follow correct procedure for all incidents / accidents. Keep accurate records. Communicate with the line managers daily and provide up-to-date service reports. Promote innovation in service delivery throughout day services. Promote person-centredness throughout the service. Quality, Safety and Governance Work directly with the people we support and staff on a day-to-day basis. Plan and develop programmes (with his/her team) to meet the individual needs of the people we support. Provide and maintain high standards of care to ensure dignity and respect for each person we support. Have a strong person-centred vision in the development of vocational and recreational supports in the community. Be responsible as the need arises for the people we support and act as a key worker for some. To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team so as to ensure that the continuity of health care for the people we support is maintained to a high standard. Develop and implement strategies to receive feedback from the people we support and their families on the day service with an emphasis on improving the experience and provision of quality of care within Day Services. To promote self- development, independence and individuality of each person we support. Ensure appropriate systems are in place for measuring quality of outcomes and the effective use of resources. Consider and implement strategies to transition from traditional model of care delivery to community-based supports (Hubs). Implement strategies to apply social role valorisation as a pathway for the people we support. Ensure all internal audits are completed in a timely manner along with any outstanding actions from Register Provider Audits. Maintain the highest possible standards at all times in relation to Best Practice Health / Safety, Hygiene and Delivery of Service Be responsible for implementation of risk management policy and procedures. Apply adult safeguarding policies and ensure they are adhered to across all of Day Services. Be responsible for the implementation of fire safety recommendations and standards as identified by the fire safety officer. Financial and Resource Be accountable for all resources and budgetary provisions within your area of responsibility. Implement appropriate systems to ensure accountability is appropriately disseminated throughout the service. Participate in the recruitment process as requested by the HR Department. Management Is fully accountable for Team Members, social care workers, Care Staff and all other staff within day services. Follow the reporting mechanism for all incidents/accidents and record same. To provide written reports as required and have an appreciation of the importance of legal aspects and be able to write a factual statement concerning an accident or incident which occurs. Ensure appropriate management practices are applied and performance management strategies, as outlined by the HR Department, are implemented. Ensure all staff, within area of accountability, meet the requirements outlined by the L&D department for core competency training and best practice training. Provide regular supervision for staff. Co-ordinate staff meetings to enhance teamwork and promote good communication. Identify staff training needs and deficits. Ensure staff are educated with regard to relevant policy. Information Technology Skills Observe strictly the Code of Confidentiality. Experience and Qualifications Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role: Degree (Hons Level 8) in Nursing, or Social Care Discipline or an equivalent qualification. Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience working in the area of intellectual disability Demonstrate experience of implementing strategies to apply social role valorisation as a pathway for the people we support. Have a strong person-centred vision in the development of programmes in the community. Minimum of 1 year leadership and staff management experience and be able to demonstrate same Post graduate qualifications in management is desirable. A full clean driving licence is desirable Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the sector, national policies and standards guiding the service. Salary:In line with the Department of Health consolidated pay scales, the current salary scale is Social Care Leader, €56,915 €66,465 per annum (including LSI).
