About the role
This is an opportunity to join a team of highly skilled and certified technologists delivering enterprise-grade Microsoft Teams voice solutions. As a Senior Microsoft Teams Phone Engineer, you will lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of Microsoft Teams Phone environments across enterprise clients. The role spans the full solution lifecycle, from technical discovery and architecture design through implementation, migration, and ongoing operational support.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, deploy, and support Microsoft Teams Phone and enterprise voice solutions across complex enterprise environments.
* Lead migrations from legacy PBX and on-premises telephony platforms to Microsoft Teams Phone using Direct Routing or Operator Connect PSTN connectivity models.
* Configure and manage Session Border Controllers (SBCs), including SIP trunk integration, signalling configuration, header manipulation, and PSTN connectivity.
* Deliver expert-level troubleshooting of Teams calling, conferencing, and media quality issues, including SIP trace analysis and structured root cause investigation.
* Monitor and optimise call quality using Call Quality Dashboard (CQD) and Power BI reporting.
* Configure and manage Teams voice policies, dial plans, emergency calling, voicemail, auto attendants, and call queues.
* Deploy and support Teams-certified endpoints and peripherals.
* Design and integrate Contact Centre and Atendant Console solutions with Microsoft Teams (experience with Landis solutions is highly advantageous).
* Conduct technical discovery workshops and translate business requirements into HLDs and LLDs, implementation documentation, and operational runbooks.
* Coordinate testing phases, pilot rollouts, and user acceptance processes.
* Provide senior-level escalation support for complex enterprise voice incidents.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal standards, documentation, and best practices.
* Stay aligned with Microsoft Teams roadmap developments and emerging voice architecture patterns.
Essential Qualifications
* At least one of the following certifications (holding both is preferred):
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (MS-700)
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate (MS-721)
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a Microsoft Unified Communications architecture or engineering role.
* Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale Microsoft Teams Phone deployments.
* Deep understanding of Teams voice architecture, including Direct Routing, voice routing policies, dial plans, emergency calling configuration, voicemail, and number management.
* Strong knowledge of SIP, SBC configuration, PSTN interconnect models, and telephony infrastructure principles.
* Experience managing Teams Phone devices and endpoint provisioning.
* Demonstrated experience executing PBX-to-Teams migrations.
* Experience integrating third-party applications and Contact Centre platforms with Microsoft Teams.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 core services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID and licensing.
* PowerShell/Microsoft Graph scripting skills for Teams voice administration and automation.
* Networking fundamentals relevant to real-time media workloads, including DNS, firewall configuration, TLS certificates, load balancing, and QoS.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to lead technical workshops and translate business requirements into structured technical solutions.
