At Castleknock Hotel we are currently recruiting for an Assistant Conference & Banquet Manager to join our Team. This is a busy, exciting and rewarding role assisting in managing a large team for all aspects of the department. This role is ideal for candidates who are looking for a new challenge or progression in this area.
Responsibilities

Coordinating with departments (banqueting, catering, AV, housekeeping)
Managing day‑to‑day client expectations for bookings – Corporate events and Social events
Providing excellent service to clients
Handling last‑minute changes calmly and efficiently
Coordinating across vendors, hotel teams, and clients
Managing multiple events simultaneously
Prioritising under pressure
Upselling hotel services (catering, room blocks, AV)
Managing invoices and event P&Ls
Ensuring profitability of events
Handling unexpected issues (weather, equipment, staffing)
Quick decision‑making
Creative solutions on event day
Familiarity with hotel PMS (Opera)
Event management software
AV basics (projectors, mics, staging)
Ensuring compliance with hotel policies
Reviewing function sheets (Banquet Event Orders)
Double‑checking room setups, dietary requirements, and schedules
Ensuring a seamless guest experience

Qualifications & Experience

The ability to manage, plan and execute all events within the conferencing and banqueting department
The ability to engage well with guests to provide an outstanding and unforgettable experience
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of knowledge of Food & Beverage service
Ability to adapt to change and work well under pressure
Outgoing and friendly personality
Professional image at all times in line with the Hotel standards
Commitment to the team and the Hotel industry
Flexibility with working hours (must be available for weekends, early starts and late finishes)
Previous experience with Hotel Event operations
Outstanding attention to detail and effective communication
Ability to follow verbal directions in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment
Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise tasks
Hospitality expertise (understanding guest flow, service standards)
Cultural awareness (working with international clients)
Excellent team training skills
