Financial Accountant Role

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Finance Department. This involves managing and completing the monthly management accounts process, preparing year-end accounts, and liaising with external auditors during the audit process.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare monthly management accounts, including month-end journals and reconciliations.

* Lead preparation of year-end accounts and liaison with external auditors during the audit process.

* Deliver detailed cost reports and variance analyses to support strategic decision-making and budgetary control.

* Prepare and submit monthly management reports, including financial data and KPIs, to meet reporting requirements and support informed decisions.

Banking & Cashflow:

* Review monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts.

* Monitor cashflow to ensure organisational requirements are met.

Accounts Payable & Procurement Review:

* Authorise payments.

Accounts Receivables & Income:

* Supervise receivables and income systems.

Skills & Experience:

* Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Accounting or Business.

* Membership of an approved accountancy body.

* Significant experience relevant to the Financial Accountant role, particularly in the areas of monthly reporting, year-end accounts and external audit.

* The requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, initiative and interpersonal skills, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

Professional Knowledge:

* An excellent understanding of the purpose and principles of accounting and financial reporting.

* Knowledge and experience of financial audits, both internal and external.

Leadership & Direction:

* Demonstrate organisational skills to manage the monthly management accounts processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

* Demonstrate analytical skills for interpreting financial information and data to spot inconsistencies and make informed decisions.

Critical Analysis and Decision Making:

* Demonstrate judgement and self-sufficiency in effective problem-solving.

Managing and Delivering Results:

* Flexibility, adaptability and openness to working effectively in a changing environment.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

* Excellent inter-personal skills, enabling you to engage with people throughout the organisation and externally.

* A proven track record in respect of excellent attention to detail, with an emphasis on quality, accurate output.

* A proven ability to work both on own initiative, and as part of a team, together with a can-do approach, the ability to organise and prioritise workload and a distinct ability to time manage effectively in order to meet strict deadlines.

The Offer:

This position is being offered on a permanent basis with a salary range depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
