Job Title: Rehabilitation Officer Based: Limerick (William Street Limerick and regional community hubs as required: currently Newcastle West, Ennis and Nenagh) Reporting to: Rehabilitation Services Manager Limerick Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week, Mon-Fri).
One-year fixed term contract (maternity leave cover).
Role Summary: Development and delivery of group modules and activities Facilitating clients to participate in activities within their own community.
Helping clients to overcome difficulties they encounter in their day-to-day activities, increasing confidence and independence through practical involvement.
Key worker for designated client case load Planning, administration and project work as required by Manager External liaison and representation of Headway as required Support of other Headway teams and services in line with organisational requirements COMPETENCIES: Degree-level qualification in social care / disability / health care sector Excellent group facilitation skills and experience Understanding of the needs of individuals with ABI and their families Excellent administrative, organisational and PC skills Familiarity with access issues for individuals with disability Ability to work both on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Creativity (e.g.
in using community resources, problem solving, dealing with client needs) Professional, accountable, good planning and time management skills Duties & Responsibilities: Service Delivery Deliver / facilitate Rehabilitative and or Vocational Training group modules as required (both in the Headway centre and at external venues).
Work with clients on a one-to-one basis as required (both in the Headway centres and at external venues).
Develop Training modules in line with Team requirements and objectives.
Act in a key worker role to a designated case load.
Take responsibility for the needs of clients in line with relevant health and safety legislation and Headway procedures.
To include: Assist with clients personal hygiene needs as required.
Assist with the reception and departure of clients/visitors as required.
Administer first aid if qualified to do so (at a level appropriate to the post holders training and ability).
Undertake general duties in the Training Centre as agreed with manager to support the efficient running of programmes (e.g.
clearing up before and after activities, assisting with kitchen duties, break supervision).
Maintain a safe and pleasant environment at all times.
Co-facilitate group sessions with external trainers and provide them with all appropriate support.
Monitor client outcomes.
Participate in all aspects of client work, as agreed with Manager, including needs assessments, ITPs, Fetac and any other duties that may arise.
Participate in the evaluation of Training modules and the services.
Work as part of the Training Team on an ongoing basis to develop the programmes and assume new responsibilities as required in order to meet the changing needs of the client group.
Facilitate and support the work of interdisciplinary teams, liaising with other professionals and family members regularly to ensure clients needs are met.
Participate in service-related meetings (both internal and external, as required by manager).
Work towards accreditation for all aspects of the service in line with organisation policy.
Source, facilitate and support work / community placements for clients as agreed (including long term placement if appropriate).
Organise and facilitate community activities with clients.
Prepare and present to external audiences when required.
Support awareness building and fundraising activities as agreed with Manager.
Undertake duties in other Headway services as required by manager in order to ensure the effective running of all client services.
