Senior Building Consultant (Engineer / Surveyor)

Location: Co. Clare / Limerick (with occasional travel nationwide)

About the Role

Atlantic Building Consultants is seeking a Senior Building Consultant - Engineer / Surveyor to join our growing team. This role offers a blend of technical expertise, on-site inspections, and client-facing project coordination. You will be responsible for carrying out condition surveys on houses and buildings, preparing Fire Risk Assessments, and ensuring compliance with building and fire regulations in Ireland (or the UK equivalent).

The role is suited to an experienced consultant or surveyor with a solid understanding of regulations and reporting standards. Full training will be provided to support you in building on your existing skills and ensuring you remain up to date with the latest technical and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities - non exhaustive

* Carry out condition surveys of residential, commercial, and public buildings.
* Undertake and prepare Fire Risk Assessments in line with regulatory standards.
* Conduct detailed on-site surveys and inspections for various projects.
* Prepare technical reports and AutoCAD drawings with clear recommendations.
* Attend and contribute to meetings with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants.
* Coordinate and manage the supervision of assigned projects from inception through to completion.
* Ensure all work complies with Irish building regulations (or UK equivalent where relevant).
* Manage and maintain project documentation in line with company standards.
* Collaborate closely with the Atlantic Building Consultants team to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

Terms of Employment

* Start Date: Flexible
* Salary: €45,000 – €60,000 per annum (depending on experience), payable monthly in arrears
* Working Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility depending on project requirements
* Annual Leave: 21 days per year, plus public holidays
* Travel Expenses: All reasonable work-related travel reimbursed in line with company policy and Revenue guidelines
* Other Benefits: 5% bonus on consultant fee value (ex VAT & fees) for new client referrals from your network

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

* Proven experience in building consultancy, site surveying, or related disciplines.
* Knowledge and proficiency in Irish (or UK) building and fire regulations.
* Strong technical skills, including AutoCAD and report writing.
* Experience conducting condition surveys and/or Fire Risk Assessments.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel as required.
* Professional chartership or membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, Engineers Ireland, or equivalent) will be considered a strong advantage.
