Offer description

We are seeking an experienced Systems Technician to join our team in a permanent contract. The successful candidate will support the development of high-speed automated production lines and new product introductions.


About the Role

This role involves managing and supporting existing automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimizing downtime. The successful candidate will collaborate with IT, Application Groups, and external technical resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies.


Responsibilities

* Manage and support the existing automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimised downtime.
* Collaborate with the IT Group, Application Group, and External Technical Resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies.
* Implement industry best practices to deliver improved productivity, quality, and efficiency throughout the organization.
* Install and deploy systems, software, and peripherals as required, liaising with external vendors and service contractors as appropriate.
* Provide technical direction for all new infrastructure developments, in agreement with the Engineering Manager.
* Benchmark system performance and provide regular reports.
* Interface with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments.
* Perform system backups and recovery.
* Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, and other applications.
* Provide regular reports to Management and deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (2-4 years' relevant experience in Medical Devices or suppliers).

* Experience with PLC programming, in-line vision systems, barcode systems, network topology, PC application software, Remote I/O, systematic troubleshooting / problem solving skills.
* Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drive Technology Experience of TCP/IP and Wide Area Network architectures.
* Programming of Allen-Bradley Controllogix5000 and PLC5 Visual Basic applications.
