Project Engineer (Water) – Location: Co Kilkenny & Midlands (Westmeath, Longford and Roscommon). Duration: Permanent. Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will work with the Project Manager to coordinate process, mechanical, civil, structural and electrical work on various Water and Wastewater Treatment contracts nationwide, in municipal and industrial sectors. The Project Engineer will assist in the design development of water and wastewater treatment contracts from early design/concept through to detailed design and delivery, coordinating with internal design departments, sub-consultants and clients. Tasks include design development, preparation of delivery documentation, managing sub-consultant submissions (incl planning), and safety documentation, as well as tendering and construction design packages. During delivery, the Project Engineer will liaise with design teams and suppliers, manage subcontractors, installation personnel and commissioning teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget, with equipment sized, procured, installed, tested and commissioned per contractual requirements.
Day to Day Responsibilities
* Take ownership of delegated projects and project issues
* Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects
* Evaluate client specifications
* Communicate with the Project Manager, Design Leads and Sub-Consultants during the project execution
* Engage with the engineering team in final design, equipment selection and procurement activities
* Liaise with Clients and Client Representatives
* Organise, co-ordinate and manage design activities
* Manage H&S requirements in coordination with the H&S Manager
* Manage the project within defined budgets and programme
* Monitor and control the project against the brief and programme
* Anticipate risks and manage opportunities; apply contract execution procedures
Required Skills and Qualifications
* At least NFQ Level 7 degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Hydraulic Engineering and/or Civil Engineering and/or Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or similar
* Experience as part of a design team from initial stages to delivery
* Ability to manage design and site activities, coordinating teams
* Ability to work on own initiative and coordinate design/site activities
* Practical site experience is desirable
* Experience in water/wastewater engineering projects is desirable
* IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Self-motivated with strong communication and writing skills
