As part of the Generation Safety team, you will work across all areas of ESB Generation, providing expert safety guidance to operational sites and project teams.
This is a diverse and impactful role that spans legislative compliance, safety assurance during outages, and the practical application of safety requirements in a complex industrial environment.
Success in this role requires independence, flexibility, and strong self-motivation.
You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders—from plant operators to project managers and senior leaders—so excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential.

Develop all outage/project safety-related plans, documents, registers as necessary for safety compliance.
Take the leading role in outage/project safety-related meetings, stand-downs and forums.
Support the procurement process by providing expert safety input and managing safety-related contracts and suppliers, including any supplementary safety resources required to support specific projects/outages.
Support processes to ensure compliance with Sub-co Director safety responsibilities.

Third-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience, plus an internationally recognised safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent).
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
Strong expertise in safety legislation, including the ability to develop compliant outage/project safety plans, documentation, and registers.
In-depth knowledge of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including permitting and isolation processes.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and deliver presentations across all organisational levels.
Experience in project or contract management, with strong planning and organisational skills.
Proficiency in safety auditing and a full Category B driving licence.
Technical experience in power station operations or similar heavy-industry environments.
Membership of a professional safety body or working towards membership.

The position is open to nationwide applicants.
The successful candidate's base will be confirmed and may require travel to all generation locations or to central locations.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make in-person time together as purposeful as possible while enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements.
The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week.
