Discover Impactful Work: The role of Associate Research Scientist is responsible for the regulatory and scientific conduct of development and stability projects in the Pharma Laboratory.
Performs troubleshooting across multiple assay formats, clients, and cell lines.
Calculates and interprets data and records data in adherence with PPD SOPs and any additional requirements specific to the lab and/or client.
A day in the Life: Independently performs analytical testing, method optimization/validation, and/or other specialist technologies studies or method transfers for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations and/or delivery systems.
Understands and conforms to methods and protocols applicable to assigned tasks.
Designs and completes experiments independently.Reviews and critiques study protocols, project status reports, final study reports, and other project-related technical documents.Communicates data and technical issues to clients on a weekly basis (or as needed).Provides technical mentorship and training to staff.Leads analytical (procedural and instrumental) troubleshooting sessions.Plans, directs, and implements improvements in systems and processes.Assists in preparation and implementation of SOPs and quality systems.Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical, quality, and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria, and GMP.
Performs self and peer review of data for accuracy and compliance prior to submission to QA and customer delivery.Keys to Success: Education Minimum Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a similar field5+ years of experience providing the knowledge and skills to perform the jobExperience should include: At least 2 years experience with material testing systems/tensiometers related to medical device functionality testing (force and tension), familiarity with ISO regulations and guidelines for medical device testing (e.g., ISO 11040 and 11608) for devices like pre-filled syringes, autoinjectors, and pens.Experience with container closure integrity testing methods (e.g., dye ingress, oxygen headspace, vacuum decay, helium leak)Significant industry experience within an analytical testing laboratory and GMP environment is essentialKnowledge, Skills, Abilities Proven experience of method development and validationAbility to manage projects and deal with client auditsExperience leading CMC studies including method validationStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to perform root cause analysis for method investigationsProven technical writing skillsTime and project management skillsEffective written and oral communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAbility to train junior staffOur Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
