Objectives:To support young people as they move into young adulthood by building positive relationships with each young person and all involved in their care as they navigate moving from child to young adult.To undertake working with young people in line with the ethos, and model of care by Don Bosco Care, which is based on developing a safe therapeutic environment that is welcoming and fosters positive outcomes, encourages trusting relationships and modelling a positive way of being in relationships with othersTo work in a way that prioritizes the best possible outcomes for each young person in our care, being mindful of each individual's circumstances and need.Essential Requirements:To have at least three years' experience working with young people who have experienced traumaTo have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.To have a capacity to work on own initiative and as part of a team.To be familiar with the Aftercare legislationTo be familiar with relevant Aftercare Legislation, policy and StandardsHave knowledge of relevant Housing legislation and supports to support young people in aftercare.Full clean Driving LicenseBe registered as a Social Care worker with CORU (or in the registration process)Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo ensure the safety and wellbeing of each young person in your care.To ensure that a needs assessment and aftercare plan is completed for each of the young people in your care and updated as required.To ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations in relation to consent to record, hold and share information on young people in the care of Don BoscoTo attend all meetings as required.To record petty cash expenditure on the petty cash system if/when requiredTo develop business cases, financial plans and funding requests as requiredEngage with educational and training and other professionals to support young people inEngage with statutory agencies (Tusla), care professionals, probation services, foster carers,residential care providers, housing bodies, counselling services, medical servicesTo engage in continuing professional development.To promote a positive and supportive atmosphere for the young people and colleagues.To help ensure compliance with the provisions of the Health and Safety statement.To help young people strive towards an appropriate level of contact with families and friends.To promote a therapeutic approach to working with the young people in our care.To assist in preparing leaving care needs assessments for young people.To have the capacity to manage time appropriately.To take an active role in meetings.To have good communication skills.Ability to provide detailed written reportsTo have the ability to form appropriate relationships with young people,To have the ability to listen and respect young people's ideas and decisions.To be non-judgmental.To promote a culture of learning in the service by being informed on the most recent thinking pertaining to the field of aftercare.To ensure information pertaining to the young person and their family is treated with respect and in a confidential all timesThis Job Description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involvedand the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the postwhich may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to thedevelopment of the post while in office.Skills,competencies and/or knowledgeStrong communication & interpersonal skillsGood computer and IT skillsGood planning & organizational skillsReporting RelationshipThe Aftercare Worker will report to and work under the supervision and direction of the line Manager and Director of Services of Don Bosco Care.Tenure: Permanent post, subject to a probation period and Garda ClearanceRemuneration: Consolidated salary scale at SCL Oct 2023 rateWorking Week: The standard working week applying to the post is: 39 hoursAnnual Leave: The Annual leave associated with this post is: 23 days – 24 days after 5 years' serviceJob Type: GraduatePay: €36,945.00-€52,720.00 per yearBenefits:Employee assistance programApplication question(s):• Registered with the Social Care Workers Registration Board maintained by CORUWork authorisation:Ireland (required)Work Location: In person
