Job Title: Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist – Acute Hospital Setting
Location: Cavan Hours: 35 hours per week (Full-time) Contract: 12 month specified purpose contract (with potential for extension)

Your Role:
As a Staff Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with communication and swallowing disorders. You will play a critical role in improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of patients within an acute hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties.
* Manage a caseload of elderly patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, brain injury, and progressive neurological diseases.
* Deliver evidence-based interventions to patients with dysphagia, ensuring best practice in assessment and management.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
* Provide education and training to hospital staff, patients, and families on communication and swallowing strategies.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in ongoing clinical audits and service development.
* Engage in clinical supervision and continuous professional development to ensure the highest standard of care.
Essential Qualifications:
* CORU registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.
* Dysphagia qualification and experience in an acute setting.
* Experience working with neurological conditions, stroke rehabilitation, and orthopaedics.
* Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
