The role ensures that technicians maintain the highest standards of technical competence, diagnostic capability, and manufacturer compliance, supporting improved workshop efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesTraining Delivery & DevelopmentDeliver high-quality technical training to mechanics and apprentices across all Harris Group brandsProvide classroom-based, hands-on, and on-the-job training aligned with manufacturer standardsDevelop and maintain structured training programmes covering mechanical, electrical, electronic, diagnostic, and safety topicsAdapt training content to suit varying skill levels, from apprentice to master technicianBrand & Manufacturer ComplianceEnsure all technical training meets manufacturer, regulatory, and accreditation requirementsLiaise with manufacturers, importers, and external training providers to stay current with product updates and technical bulletinsSupport certification, accreditation, and audit requirements across the groupSkills Assessment & Continuous ImprovementAssess technician skill levels and identify training gapsSupport the development of individual and team training plansMonitor training effectiveness and workshop performance metrics following training deliveryPromote best practice, standardised repair methods, and correct diagnostic processesTechnical Support & Knowledge SharingAct as a technical escalation point for complex faults and diagnostic challengesSupport workshop managers and foremen with technical guidance and problem-solvingAssist with the introduction of new models, technologies, tools, and systemsMaintain up-to-date technical documentation, training materials, and learning resourcesHealth, Safety & QualityPromote safe working practices and compliance with all health & safety requirementsEnsure training environments and equipment are safe, organised, and fit for purposeEmbed a culture of quality, first-time-fix, and continuous learningSkills & Experience RequiredEssentialSignificant experience as a qualified automotive / commercial vehicle technicianStrong diagnostic capability across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systemsExperience working across multiple brands or product rangesProven ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectivelyStrong presentation and interpersonal skillsFull clean driving licenceDesirablePrevious experience in a technical training, coaching, or mentoring roleRecognised training or instructional qualification (e.g. Train the Trainer, FETAC, City & Guilds, OEM trainer certification)Experience with emerging technologies (EV, hybrid, ADAS, telematics, emissions systems)Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) or digital training platformsPersonal AttributesPassionate about developing people and sharing technical knowledgeStructured, organised, and self-motivatedApproachable and credible with technicians at all levelsAdaptable and comfortable working across multiple sites and brandsCommercially aware with a focus on improving workshop performanceWorking HoursFull-time roleMonday to Friday, with flexibility for occasional travel or off-site training requirementsWhat Harris Group OffersCompetitive salary package commensurate with experienceCompany vehicle or travel allowance (if applicable)Ongoing manufacturer and professional trainingCareer development opportunities within a growing automotive groupSupportive, professional working environmentJob Type: Full-timeWork Location: In person
