Purpose of the role
Deliver high-quality ergonomic assessments and defensible reports, translating findings into practical solutions that reduce risk and enhance performance, safety, and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
* Conduct ergonomic assessments for departments and individuals, including return-to-work cases.
* Apply recognised risk tools (RULA, REBA, MAC, RAPP) and measurements (reach, force, clearance) to quantify risk and support recommendations.
* Produce concise, evidence-based reports with prioritised solutions aligned to standards and regulations.
* Deliver DSE assessments and task-specific advice.
* Support the ergonomics team in maintaining a database of equipment, solutions, and interventions.
Essential criteria
* Degree in Ergonomics/Human Factors, Human Factors Engineering, Biomechanics, Physiotherapy, Industrial or Systems Engineering, or a related field.
* Proven experience conducting ergonomic assessments and producing client-ready reports.
* Proficiency in ergonomic risk tools (RULA, REBA, MAC, RAPP).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging stakeholders at clinical, technical, and managerial levels.
* Competence with Microsoft 365 and online platforms.
* Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel nationally (typically one day per week likely).
Desirable criteria
* Postgraduate qualification in Ergonomics or Human Factors.
* Membership or eligibility for membership of IHFES.
* At least 2–3 years' experience in a similar role or where ergonomic assessments formed a core part of your responsibilities..
* Experience in healthcare setting.
* DSE Assessor experience and/or QQI Level 6 Manual Handling/People Handling Instructor certification (not essential).
* Familiarity with procurement and evaluation of ergonomic equipment and furniture.
* Strong understanding of evidence-based ergonomic solutions.
