Position Summary:The position of Automation Engineer would suit a motivated, practical and adaptable individual who has the ambition to gain Chartered Engineer status and wishes to work in a progressive and innovative consultancy design office. The post holder will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver projects within the broad industrial and pharmaceutical sectors.The design work will predominantly be in the Automation discipline, but may include support of other disciplines including Process, Electrical and Instrumentation. Due to the varied nature of the projects worked on in the office, opportunities may arise for site-based C&Q roles and travel abroad. Although the role is primarily office based, some site-based work may be required from time to time.Key Responsibilities:Development of Control System Concept / Automation PhilosophiesDesign of Control System Architecture drawingsCoordination and/or alignment of Process, Instrumentation and Automation design developmentAutomation Specification and Support of Vendor Package EquipmentGeneration of Control System Technical Specifications / User RequirementsTender of Bespoke / Stick-Build Automation Packages, including Technical Bid AnalysisGeneration and/or review of Process Automation DescriptionsManagement of Automation Life-Cycles for Bespoke / Stick-Build Automation PackagesFactory Acceptance Testing of Bespoke / Stick-Build Automation PackagesCommissioning & Qualification (C&Q)Peer-reviews of 3rd party Automation DesignsEducation & Experience:Degree Qualified Engineer – Automation / Electrical / Electronic, or equivalentSystem Integration experience preferred – PLC, DCS process automationEssential skills:Computer literate – proficient in MS-Office (Word, Excel, etc.)Familiarization with GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, ISA standards (S88, S95, S99)Team player, adaptable, & self-motivatingExcellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to work well on own initiative
