What are we looking for
We are looking for a talented and motivated Mechanical CAD Technician / Designer to join our engineering team in Waterford.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
Working closely with our production and manufacturing teams, you will help bring new products and design improvements from concept through to manufacture.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual who takes pride in delivering accurate, well-structured design output in a busy engineering environment.
Your New Job
Create and maintain detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
Produce 2D engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and weld detail drawings to relevant standards
Collaborate with production, fabrication, and machining teams to ensure designs are manufacturable
Revise and update existing design files in line with engineering change requests
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and parts lists from CAD assemblies
Support the design and development of new products and custom machine builds
Maintain an organised and controlled CAD file management system
Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors on technical drawing requirements where required
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes
Qualifications
Proven experience using SolidWorks in a professional or industrial setting
Ability to produce accurate 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings
Ability to interpret and work from customer specifications, sketches, and verbal briefs
Good understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welded structures
Relevant qualification in mechanical / manufacturing / product design course
High attention to detail and a methodical approach to design work
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team
