Contributing to transformative railway infrastructure projects across Ireland, this role offers exciting challenges and opportunities for career advancement.
Responsibilities :
Oversee the preparation, management, and coordination of design tasks, ensuring adherence to established principles.
Support with Design Reviews, HAZIDs, and HAZOPs to ensure risk mitigation and alignment with safety standards.
Ensure data completeness and accuracy for the creation of working drawings, design calculations, specifications, and safe systems for signals, points, and train detection.
Collaborate closely with design and testing teams to identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth operation of systems.
Effective teamwork is crucial for multidisciplinary collaboration.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, handling timelines, deadlines, and priorities efficiently.
Experience in managing complex tasks and achieving project milestones is essential.
Serve as the primary liaison with the customers Project Manager and engineering manager regarding design matters.
Develop interlocking data from approved control tables, implementing these for complex circuits while considering all safety requirements.
Manage configuration of interlocking data, documenting and controlling changes to prevent errors or conflicts.
Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards throughout the data and design lifecycle, from planning to maintenance.
Assist contractors in reviewing assurance packages and compliance submissions, providing guidance on format and content.
Support the acquisition of necessary consents and third-party technical approvals.
Monitor contractor progress against design timelines and oversee the preparation and updating of records, including as-built drawings and safety documentation.
Minimum of 8 years of technical experience in railway signalling, focusing on interlocking data preparation and implementation.
Excellent understanding of interlocking principles, especially regarding safety, reliability, and compatibility with modern and legacy systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of railwaysignallingequipment, including signals, points, train detection systems, train protection systems, level crossings, and PLC applications.
Expertise in CAD software like AutoCad or MicroStation for creating detailed signal and circuit lay-outs.
Ability to design complex layouts that meet operational needs and manage large datasets using IT systems.
Proven leadership in technical teams or engineering project coordination.
Strong communication skills for conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and producing reports and presentations.
Thorough knowledge of railway-specific safety and design regulations, translating these into practical designs.
Experience with various interlocking systems, including relay, SSI, and modern CBI for electronic or digital interlocking and EULYNX .
Familiarity with ETCS requirements as well as legacy systems forsignallingsystems.
IRSE licensed Signalling Designer or Signalling Principles Designer
