The Mater Hospital is one of only 2 sites in the country and one of a very few sites internationally to offer a dedicated Inclusion Health service.
It recognises the complex medical and psychosocial needs and health inequalities experienced by those in marginalized groups such as those experiencing homeless, asylum seekers, prisoners and Travellers.
We aim to offer equitable healthcare through patient-centred, psychologically informed, appropriate approaches, collaborating closely with our community partners (GPs, homeless agencies, addiction and mental health services etc) to do so.

The Inclusion health service is run as part of the Infectious diseases department at the Mater Hospital.
Therefore successful candidates will not only gain experience in Inclusion health but also in Infectious diseases.

This role offers successful candidates the opportunity to work alongside a team of 1 full time Inclusion health Consultant, 6 Infectious Diseases consultants and 10 Clinical Nurse Specialists including a dedicated Inclusion health nurse specialist and ID CNS's covering general infectious diseases alongside several subspecialty areas such as complex bone, joint and spinal infection, OPAT, fungal infections, TB, Post COVID syndromes, Sexual health, HIV and viral hepatitis management.
We also have a dedicated full time Inclusion Health senior medical social worker who works closely alongside the Inclusion health Consultant and CNS.
We also offer the unique opportunity to gain experience working in the country's high consequence infectious diseases unit, the National isolation unit.

The Inclusion Health registrar will work alongside the ID SpRs and registrars to deliver in-patient, outpatient and consultation led care and will also deliver a GIM on call commitment (1 in 6, shared amongst the registrars in the department).
They will also deliver an assertive engagement Inclusion health outpatient clinic weekly, partake in interagency multidisciplinary meetings for complex inclusion health patients and there are many opportunities for outreach work with our community healthcare partners such as Safetynet, the homeless medical charity.

There are dedicated weekly teaching sessions within the department and we actively encourage our team to participate in our very active research programmmes.
We would particularly encourage applicants who have completed their MRCPI and are contemplating a career in Infectious Diseases, GIM, Acute medicine or a related specialty given the broad range of experience successful candidates will gain in this post.
Similarly, this post may be of interest to those with or considering GP training who wish to gain some broader experience in Inclusion Health.
