Job Description We have a fantastic opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join Eurofins BPT in Dungarvan Co Waterford.
The primary objective of this position is to support the maintenance and smooth operation of Eurofins Buildings by assisting with routine upkeep, repairs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards in a regulated laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities: Assist the Facilities Manager and team with the following tasks: Assist in general maintenance tasks across office and laboratory areas, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
Support preventive maintenance programs for critical equipment and building systems to ensure minimal downtime.
Conduct regular inspections of facilities and promptly report any issues.
Help with setup and relocation of laboratory equipment and office furniture for projects or events.
Operate forklift or other material handling equipment safely when required (training provided if needed).
Maintain cleanliness and safety in maintenance areas and ensure compliance with Eurofins' health, safety, and GMP standards.
Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs as required.
Respond to building emergencies, including occasional call-outs.
Maintain building appearance and plant room organization.
Monitor heating oil, propane gas, and spare parts inventory.
Ensure accurate labeling of valves, switches, and electrical contacts.
Keep maintenance documentation up to date in line with company procedures.
Identify recurring faults, investigate root causes, and implement solutions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for facilities operations.
Qualifications Experience providing fitter/electrical support in a production or laboratory environment.
Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Diligent, organized, and detail-oriented with a proven track record of productivity.
Excellent communication skills, both internal and external.
Ability to prioritize work effectively and devise practical solutions.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks in a regulated environment.
Full, clean driving license (required).
Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role is an advantage.
Fork Lifting license is desirable.
