About the Role
We are looking for a MICE Manager to join our MICE team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the MICE Manager will oversee and manage the Custom Ireland MICE team who manage corporate events such as incentives, from the design stage to their execution & delivery, invoicing and follow up. As a key member of the management team, they will actively contribute to the development & implementation of company strategy and process development.
Key responsibilities – Programme Design and Delivery
* The Custom Ireland / MICE Manager is a key member of the Operations Team, co‑ordinating their own portfolio of client accounts, and designing, executing and delivering corporate programmes.
* Supervision of the MICE team by ensuring all enquiries are delegated to the Operations team in a timely and efficient manner. Effective day to day management of the Custom Ireland MICE team and Operations Executives, including staff training, mentoring & performance management. The MICE Manager will be supported in this regard by the Management team.
* Event Design: Develop detailed event itineraries for prospective clients to Ireland for incentive programmes.
* Supplier Management: Work closely with suppliers to negotiate the best deals for our clients and maintain a good working relationship with all of our providers.
* Product Development: Research new suppliers (including venues, properties and activities) and arrange site inspections where appropriate, to keep Custom Ireland’s portfolio innovative.
* Client Engagement: Liaise with the client to adapt the itinerary and pricing to meet their requirements.
* Event Management: Make all relevant bookings, maintaining bookings according to company procedures. Ensure the delivery and execution of all tours are to the highest standard.
* Budget Management and Billing: Develop and manage budgets in line with client requirements and company guidelines. Work closely with Accounts function to ensure client accounts are correct and in order.
* Site inspections & FAMS: Organize client site inspections and meet with clients & suppliers.
* Sales & Trade Shows: Work closely with the Sales & Marketing Director to ensure that all relevant sales and marketing functions and processes are fully supported within the Dublin office. Participate in Sales Trips or Trade Shows as necessary.
* Company Strategy and Process Design: Identify new MICE / Group / Special Event business opportunities and support the company’s efforts within national and international travel trade and consumer markets to develop and maintain our position and market share by making worthwhile contributions to the company strategy.
Key Requirements
* At least 5 years of experience in the Event Management / DMC industry or in an equivalent / similar managerial role.
* Business, Tourism or Event Management training / degree Level
* Excellent written and spoken English with good interpersonal skills
* Flexibility to work on weekends/late nights as required on events
* Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline‑oriented environment
* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Genuine interest in Irish heritage, culture, travel and events
