Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Estimator to join our organization in Kildare. As a key member of our pre-construction team, you will be responsible for managing and delivering cost estimates at various stages of scheme development.

1. Coordinate with bid teams, colleagues in the estimating department, and in the wider Pre-construction team to ensure seamless collaboration.
2. Manage and deliver cost estimates at various stages in scheme development, scope definition, and design maturity to meet challenging timescales, including multiple iterations of budget and target prices.
3. Contribute to optioneering and feasibility assessments, value engineering proposals, liaise with bid and project teams representing a range of disciplines to develop and refine proposals and budget costs through to final target price estimates.
4. Liaise with clients, designers, and other consultants, quantity surveyors, and other third parties to facilitate effective communication.
5. Organize and administer tender documents, correspondence, enquiries, and quotations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
6. Challenge and contribute to all aspects of the bid preparation and submission process to investigate safe and cost-effective solutions.
7. Collect and distribute feedback and maintain awareness of latest techniques to enhance professional growth.
8. Prepare cost estimates from first principles using Candy estimating software to provide accurate results.
9. Organize and participate in bid preparation and review meetings to facilitate open discussion.
10. Prepare tender summary information and priced risk and opportunity registers to provide comprehensive insights.
11. Prepare and communicate estimate information for bid review meetings and for handover to project teams to ensure transparency.
12. Ensure organization and approval for measurement and production of measured quantities from drawings or BIM models for incorporation in tender enquiries.
13. Ensure all cost data used is up to date and is updated as required to maintain accuracy.
14. Attend mid/post tender interviews with the Client team on bids under consideration to provide expert advice.
15. Produce handover documentation to Project Commercial Team on successful bids to ensure seamless transition.
16. Develop and maintain relationships with external Clients and Consultants to foster partnerships.
17. Liaison and reporting to corporate for compliance, incorporation, and approval of corporate governance to ensure alignment.

Requirements:

18. Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree or equivalent level in a relevant field such as civil engineering, business administration, or a related discipline.
19. Suitable civil engineering project experience in management, engineering, or commercial roles with contractors, preferably in senior positions.
20. Proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids, particularly roads, bridges, rail, marine, or water sectors, with a strong understanding of methods and typical production rates/outputs.
21. Demonstrable understanding of common forms of contract and methods of measurement used in the Irish market to ensure compliance.
22. Leadership and management skills with experience of managing a team to achieve deadlines and objectives.
23. Expert commercial acumen and problem-solving skills to provide innovative solutions.
24. Excellent client-facing and supply chain-facing skills to build strong relationships.
25. Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration.
26. Ability to perform multiple tasks at a high level of quality and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
