CVICU Advanced Practice Provider in Augusta, GA - Wellstar Health System
Position Overview
Wellstar Health System is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team in Augusta, GA. The APP will work in a high-acuity, fast-paced critical care environment, managing complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive management of critically ill patients in the CVICU, including post-operative cardiac surgery patients.
* Collaborate with attending intensivists, surgeons, cardiologists, nursing staff, and support teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.
* Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds, care planning, and clinical documentation using the EMR system.
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, research, and protocol development for cardiovascular critical care.
* Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff on cardiovascular conditions, treatments, and recovery processes.
Qualifications
* Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Georgia.
* National board certification (ACNP or PA-C); critical care certification preferred.
* BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred.
Experience
* 1-2 years of critical care, cardiovascular ICU, or cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred.
* Strong critical care background; new graduates may be considered.
