Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Our client is a leading global EPCM company with worldwide operations and projects across Ireland. They are currently seeking two experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineers to join their Dublin and Cork offices, with one position based in Dublin and one in Cork (hybrid). The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will oversee the design and implementation of advanced electrical systems for large-scale pharmaceutical facilities. This position demands extensive expertise in MV/LV power systems, excellent multidisciplinary collaboration skills, and proven experience in 3D model‑based project environments. The successful candidate will ensure that all electrical designs are highly reliable, fully compliant with applicable standards, and meet project budget, timeline, and quality targets.
Responsibilities
Develop MV and LV power system design for major pharmaceutical projects.
Execute electrical design packages within a multi-disciplinary 3D design environment, ensuring full integration with other engineering disciplines.
Perform advanced power system studies, including short‑circuit calculations, system analysis, and protection coordination/discrimination studies.
Develop electrical installation designs in compliance with IS, EN and IEC standards, including power, lighting, cabling, containment, structured cabling (Cat 6), fire alarm, earthing and lightning protection.
Coordinate with other disciplines, including process, piping and mechanical teams, within 3D models.
Provide technical guidance, quality oversight, and support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases as needed.
Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering; Chartered status is an advantage.
10+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer.
Experience in pharmaceutical projects is highly desirable; commercial project experience will also be considered.
Proven experience delivering electrical design within budget, schedule and quality targets.
Background working on large, multi‑discipline projects.
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering design practices and standards, including ETCI Wiring Regulations, IEC and EN standards.
Ability to work effectively in schedule‑driven project teams.
Strong communication skills with a proactive approach.
