The role
Join the team that creates Play Station development tools used by thousands of game developers, testers, artists, and producers to make every Play Station game.
Working with experienced colleagues, you will play a fundamental role in developing and improving our video streaming technology that has developed into a critical product since remote working became the norm.
The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to continue to learn, to develop and to explore ideas; to demonstrate strong design and coding skills, and, above all, have a passion for quality.
What you'll be doing
Analysis of customer requirements to produce maintainable designs
Develop and deliver work to schedule
Participate in code and documentation reviews
Provide estimates for tasks
Provide input to technical writers producing documentation
Work with support engineers on customer issues
Supporting other team projects on an adhoc basis when the need arises
What we are looking for
Must have
BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Strong C/C++ skills gained in a commercial environment
Deep understanding of concurrency and related design patterns
A solid understanding of software testing techniques including writing unit tests
Experience with Git, Git Hub or other major version control systems
Good problem-solving skills
Nice to have
Strong UI / UX design skills
Experience with other languages including C#.
NET, Rust and/or Python
Experience with UI frameworks including native and web-based frameworks such as Blazor or React
Familiar with HTML / CSS / Java Script / Web Assembly
Experience with H264, HEVC, AAC, and PCM video/audio encoding and decoding
Decoding frameworks and pipelines such as FFmpeg and Media Foundation
2 D Graphics experience for rendering with Direct X, Open GL or Web GL/Web GPU
Experience of developing high performance / multi-threaded applications on Windows, Linux and/or Mac OS
Postgre SQL or similar relational database products
Familiarity with networking fundamentals and programming
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and containerization concepts
