The Role
We are seeking a
Freelance Social Media Manager
on a
fixed monthly retainer
to manage and execute our organic social media presence.
This is a
hands-on execution role
, focused on content creation, editing, posting, and day-to-day channel management. Our social media ambition is to use our expertise and depth of dermatological knowledge to educate and inform audiences on a wide range of skin concerns. Through our
ASK ID
videos and myth-busting content, we aim to provide trusted guidance while also highlighting the services we offer and the products we genuinely recommend and believe in.
Our Social Media Manager must be able to balance engaging, educational content with an understanding of relevant social trends — using trends selectively and intelligently, without ever compromising clinical credibility or patient trust.
The Social Media Manager will work
directly with the Marketing Director
and will be responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality social content across all platforms.
Scope of Work
1. Social Channel Management
* Day-to-day management of organic social channels:
* Instagram (primary)
* TikTok (primary)
* Facebook
* Youtube
* Responsibility for consistent posting, quality control, and channel hygiene
* Ensuring all content aligns with brand tone, visual identity, and clinical standards
2. Content Planning & Direction
* Monthly content planning in collaboration with the Marketing Director
* Translating brand, clinic, and education priorities into social content
* Creating and maintaining a simple, practical content calendar
* Providing clear direction to in-clinic teams on filming content
3. Content Creation & Editing
* Regular short-form video editing for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Youtube
* Editing supplied footage into publish-ready social content
* Adding captions, subtitles, and light text overlays where appropriate
* Ensuring correct formatting for each platform
On-site content
* Approximately
1 day per month in clinic
for supplementary content capture
- The majority of content will be filmed by in-clinic teams
- The Social Media Manager is responsible for shaping raw footage into polished content
4. Copywriting & Captions
* Writing captions that are:
* Clear and accessible
* Aligned with the Institute's brand voice
* Adapting copy appropriately for different platforms
5. Community Management
* Active monitoring of comments and direct messages
* Responding in a professional, non-clinical, on-brand manner
* Following agreed escalation guidelines for:
* Clinical or medical queries
* Sensitive or complex issues
* Helping maintain a credible, reassuring brand presence on social channels
6. Trend Awareness
* Staying informed on relevant social formats and trends
* Applying trends selectively where they genuinely support:
* Engagement
* Reach
* Education
7. Performance Monitoring
* Ongoing monitoring of basic performance indicators (reach, engagement, growth)
* Monthly high-level feedback to the Marketing Director, including:
* What content performed well
* What didn't
* Simple recommendations for the following month
* No heavy analytics or technical reporting required

* Consistent, high-quality posting across platforms
* Strong and consistent brand engagement
* Growth of follower base and reach to new, relevant audiences
Working Structure
* Fixed monthly retainer
* Flexible working hours within an agreed scope
* This role requires flexibility to support
time-sensitive or reactive content
, with the ability to respond to occasional requests outside standard working hours, including
evenings or weekends
