Title: Sustainability Specialist

The Vhi People & Sustainability Division have a full-time permanent vacancy for the position of Sustainability Specialist based in Abbey St. Working as part of a small team and reporting to the Group Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Specialist will play a hands-on role in turning Vhi’s sustainability strategy into tangible action. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about sustainability, and the alignment between human and planetary health. The successful candidate will assist in research, data gathering, reporting, and communications related to sustainability initiatives. This role is part of Vhi’s Group Sustainability Office within People and Sustainability and will involve collaboration across the business to help embed sustainability practices into everything we do.
Role Purpose
* Support the implementation of the sustainability strategy, including assisting with change management initiatives.
* Conduct ongoing proactive horizon scanning to identify emerging sustainability risks, trends, opportunities, and developments both nationally and internationally and prepare internal briefings and reports on same including analysis of their potential impact on Vhi’s sustainability strategy.
* Champion and help coordinate internal sustainability campaigns and initiatives across the Vhi group, including supporting events, communications, and training.
* Contribute to internal communications that inspire colleagues to get involved and celebrate sustainability successes.
* Assist in the development and tracking of sustainability KPIs and metrics to monitor progress against Vhi’s sustainability objectives.
* Gather, organise and assess data related to Vhi’s environmental and sustainability performance for internal and external reporting.
* Support the management of ESG platforms and tools, including data entry and maintenance.
* Help compile, analyse, and present ESG data in a clear and engaging format for various audiences.
* Contribute to internal and external sustainability reporting processes (e.g. NewERA, CDP, Annual Report, Sustainability Report).
* Provide general support to the Group Sustainability Office and contribute to cross-functional sustainability projects.
Skills And Abilities
Education and experience
* Third-level bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. environmental science, sustainability, business, public policy).
* Sustainability-related qualification is desirable.
* 2-4 years of experience in a professional or corporate environment.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in a sustainability role is required.
Technical
* Good understanding of sustainability principles and ESG frameworks.
* Practical experience of data analysis and reporting tools.
* Willingness to learn and grow expertise in areas such as decarbonisation, biodiversity and nature, circular economy, and climate action.
Interpersonal
* Enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for sustainability and making a positive impact
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proven ability to work on own initiative but also collaboratively in a team environment.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills with an eye for detail.
* Demonstrated alignment with Vhi values.
