Oriel House Hotel, part of the Talbot Collection, is currently recruiting for a Kitchen Porter to join our team.
The candidate will report to the Sous Chef, Head Chef, and General Manager.
Overall Job Purpose
To maintain a high level of operational hygiene in all kitchen areas in compliance with hotel and hygiene regulations.
Role Specific Duties
* Arrive on time and in proper uniform.
* Ensure high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
* Adhere to the company's clocking policy.
* Maintain responsibility for areas such as pot wash, storage areas, kitchen/larder, rubbish skip, hygiene in kitchen and storage areas, wash-up area, and staffing areas.
* Wear only wedding band jewelry.
* Carry out cleaning duties as scheduled and complete checklists.
* Clean pots, pans, and equipment; store them properly.
* Empty bins as needed.
* Perform deep cleaning of kitchen and storage areas according to schedule.
* Wear protective clothing when handling hazardous materials.
* Report damaged or defective equipment to senior staff.
* Maintain 4-star standards in customer relations.
* Comply with fire, safety, and hygiene regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2005.
* Report incidents of accidents or damage.
* Follow company policies and procedures outlined in the staff handbook.
* Safeguard company assets.
* Report customer comments to management.
* Contribute to energy efficiency initiatives.
* Maintain good relationships with staff and management.
* Follow departmental SOPs.
* Handle customer complaints professionally and notify management.
* Upsell company products and services where appropriate.
Additional Duties
Provide excellent customer service, representing the Talbot Collection professionally at all times.
Maintain professionalism and integrity when communicating with guests.
Ensure the hotel’s four-star standard is reflected in all interactions.
Build and maintain good working relationships with staff and management.
Acquire comprehensive knowledge of hotel services and the Talbot Collection offerings.
Deal with customer complaints efficiently, reporting issues to management.
Adhere to company policies and attend all required training.
Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and hygiene regulations, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives.
Participate in promotional events and other company activities as required.
Perform any other tasks within the scope of the job.
