THIS ROLE CAN BE BASED IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING AWS OFFICE LOCATIONS: LONDON, FRANKFURT, MADRID OR DUBLIN.
The AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) is seeking a results‑orientated individual to serve as Grid Delivery Manager. In this role you will deliver large‑scale critical HV/MV grid interconnection projects within EMEA under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have a high‑level technical understanding of HV/ MV infrastructure projects—including substations, cables, and overhead lines—and a minimum of 5+ years’ experience delivering HV and MV infrastructure projects/programs from design to energisation. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams such as design engineering, construction, planning, environmental, and real‑estate will be essential, as will stakeholder management and weekly reporting on key project risks and issues to senior management, directors, and vice‑presidents. You will drive the grid infrastructure delivery program, standardise processes, develop delivery tools, and support financial budgeting.
Key job responsibilities
Deliver large‑scale critical HV/MV grid interconnection projects within EMEA under tight deadlines.
Manage stakeholder relationships and provide weekly reporting on key project risks and issues to senior management, directors, and vice‑presidents.
Drive the grid infrastructure delivery program, standardise processes, develop tools for delivery execution, and support financial budgeting.
Ensure strong communication and collaboration with diverse teams such as design engineering, construction, planning, environmental, and real‑estate to meet tight timelines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management or similar technical focus.
Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritising needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment.
Experience building and cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
5+ years of experience building power substations, working with utilities and understanding their environment and culture.
Experience analysing cost/benefit trade‑offs across a strategic portfolio, and demonstrated understanding of how to successfully transact business in multiple cultural contexts; experience directly managing international teams is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in data centres or critical infrastructure.
Master’s degree (MBA/MS) and/or PMP certification preferred.
Experience designing substations or other energy infrastructure.
Experience working for utilities and with or for energy regulators.
Ability to communicate in additional languages.
