As we continue to grow, we need a motivated and ambitious Electrical Field Engineer to be based in our Leixlip site in Ireland.
The Electrical Field Engineer supervises and/or performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment in Global Operations production facilities, joint venture, and third-party facilities.
The role requires expanded technical skills, which are normally gained through formal training, independent study, and experience.
Strong supervisory and communication skills are also essential.
The Electrical Field Engineer is required to prepare written reports within a reasonable time after completing an assignment.
These reports should include technical information, drawings, spare parts used, scope of work, resources utilized, key durations, recommendations, feedback, methods, special procedures/tools, and future work plans.
They will also provide technical support for the commissioning of new plant and equipment, review and verify correct installation, conduct function checks, and ensure safety standards are adhered to by all personnel involved.
As our Electrical Field Engineer, you will:Respond to electrical breakdowns, inspect, analyze faults, repair, and re-commission affected plant and equipment to minimize production loss.Support plant maintenance according to the Plant Maintenance programme, including routine and major overhaul maintenance, and work on shutdowns.Supervise contractors and company staff, ensuring work is planned and executed safely and effectively.Carry out plant modifications per design specifications, submit design changes for approval, and manage project scope and costs.Advise Plant Managers and staff on maintenance issues, providing technical expertise and drawings when needed.Review and update preventive maintenance procedures in collaboration with the Maintenance Systems group, recommending improvements for safety, quality, or cost efficiency.Skills and experience required:Familiarity with electrical equipment such as motors, relays, switchgear, control systems, transformers, generators, and distribution systems.Technical skills are prioritized over supervisory skills.Ability to troubleshoot independently and understand the interrelation between electrical systems and process plant equipment.Experience in analyzing problems and implementing permanent solutions.Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship and a tertiary vocational qualification (minimum HNC or equivalent), with post-apprenticeship experience in electrical distribution, protection, and controls.Ability to read electrical control drawings.High voltage and large motor experience is preferred.Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.Previous experience in an industrial gases environment and technical proficiency with electrical equipment is advantageous.The position requires flexibility for 24/7 operational response, including travel within the UK and Ireland, often on short notice.
