Financial Accountant Job Opportunity
Exciting career opportunity for a Grade VI Financial Accountant based in Dún Laoghaire. This is a temporary 6 month initial contract role, working full-time (35 hours per week) on-site.
Salary Scale: €56,757 - €69,341 based on the public sector GVI pay scale. Relevant public sector experience must be verified before placement on the point of scale.
* Assist the finance manager in the accounting function and report directly to the Finance Manager.
* Prepare monthly reports, analysis for both internal and external sources.
* Support the development, upgrade, and replacement of existing financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and supervise the Patient Accounts Department.
2. Assist in the day-to-day running of the accounting function in the service.
3. Prepare monthly financial information, including monthly accounts, activity reports, Integrated Management Reports, performance reports, and other financial and statistical information as requested.
4. Prepare the annual accounts for subsequent audit and liaise with auditors during the audit.
5. Support the Pensions Department in the performance of their duties, particularly in relation to statutory reporting to DPER.
6. Manage treasury and cash, including cash flow forecasts.
7. Deal with queries and requests for information from both internal and external sources.
8. Prepare annual budgets.
9. Liaise with Internal Audit in the preparation of their annual audit plan.
10. Review internal controls and procedures and make recommendations as appropriate.
11. Work closely with ICT on the development and implementation of finance systems upgrades and replacements.
Qualifications and Experience Needed:
* A recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA) or at final stages.
* 3 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
* Excellent ICT skills, including MS Excel proficiency.
* Proven organizational and administrative skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
* The ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail.
