Compliance and Risk Management Lead
This is a newly created role within our organization, resulting from our ambitious growth strategy. We are seeking a highly technically proficient professional to lead all things compliance, ethics, and training across the firm. This individual will have the opportunity to build out a team to support ensuring full compliance and excellence across the organization.
The firm currently has 10 partners and circa 100 staff with plans in place to double that by the end of the year. With this growth and change underway, we need someone to ensure processes and procedures are in place to adequately support this growth while maintaining our grade A rating and quality standards.
Hybrid working is available for this role, but initially there is a strong preference to be fully office-based to really immerse yourself in the firm. Once you have demonstrated strong performance and productivity, the working from home flexibility will follow.
The Compliance and Risk Management Lead will ensure the organization stays abreast of all relevant laws, compliance, regulatory changes, and ethical standards. Responsibilities include:
* Creating and implementing compliance processes and procedures, including audit standards and programs
* Establishing internal procedures to monitor compliance and delivering reporting to partners on same
* Risk management duties include identifying and assessing compliance risks, and developing and implementing a robust controls framework to mitigate those risks.
* Audit work - supporting partners with compliance reviews on high-risk audit files and providing reports to support technically compliant audit opinions
* Staying at the forefront of any changes in laws, regulations, technical matters, and rolling out training to all relevant parties in the organization
* Leading the development and delivery of training programs for the firm, ensuring staff are continuously upskilled on all compliance requirements and ethical conduct
* Preparing in-house memos and guidance manuals on evolving technical matters
* Liasing with external regulatory bodies
* Conducting and recording annual staff appraisals
Required Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for an individual who:
* Has a similar role experience within professional services or financial services
* Is qualified as ICAI (ACA), ACCA, CPA
* Has small-medium accountancy practice trained is desirable
* Experience working with one of the professional accountancy bodies is highly advantageous
* Has people management experience with lived experience of training accountants
* Experience providing technical advice and guidance to partners and staff in a professional services setting
* Experience in creating and implementing compliance processes and procedures
* Has a strong corporate governance background in professional services or financial services
* Is a knowledge seeker who actively goes above and beyond to keep abreast of any regulatory changes, laws, or technical requirements in the accountancy landscape
