Job Description
The successful applicant will be appointed to the role of High Voltage Sub-Station Designer.
They will provide expert services in areas of HV station design in a timely and cost-effective manner to facilitate delivery of capital and maintenance projects and programmes.
In this role, they will provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects and must be able to understand and communicate the methodology of station control systems, protection schemes, onsite construction safety implications, and in general have a detailed knowledge of station HV equipment and its operation.

Key Responsibilities
* Project Planning: The planning, scoping & costing of projects in High voltage substations
* Health and Safety: Preparation of Preliminary health and safety documentation and Design risk assessments.
* Electrical Design: Preparation of detailed Electrical designs, including Layouts, Schematics & Wiring schedules.
* Compliance: Comply with safety legislation and act as a first point of contact on behalf of the PSDP for ESB Networks.
* Liaison: Liaising and coordinating with designers in other disciplines, external contractors and design teams while maintaining commercial focus.
* Technical Support: Providing technical support throughout the HV substation lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years electrical experience or equivalent design work experience is essential.
Proficiency and adaptability in a CAD/CAE Systems such as MicroStation, AutoCAD or Similar.
General Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
A Track record in Implementing standards, policies, and quality systems to ensure optimum designs.
Knowledge of ESB HV network assets and High Voltage Sub-Stations.
Understands and applies relevant approved Quality Management systems and standards.
* Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate OR a suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical, building Services OR other suitable qualification with a sizeable electrical content.
