Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time appointment as Professor/Full Professor in James Joyce Studies in the UCD School of English, Drama and Film. Following the retirement of Professor Anne Fogarty, UCD aims to appoint a new Chair to shape the future of James Joyce Studies at UCD, nationally and internationally. The Professor of James Joyce Studies will provide academic and intellectual leadership within the School and the University, and will lead and promote the study of James Joyce through academic and public engagement in Dublin and around the world.
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognised expert in the study of the works of James Joyce, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: creative writing, gender and sexuality studies, or world modernisms. They will have a proven track record of high-quality research, publication, and teaching, and demonstrate the vision and capacity to shape James Joyce Studies as a dynamic, inclusive, and diverse field. The role includes research, scholarship, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, academic administration, and public engagement. As James Joyce is a key figure in UCD’s global reputation, the post-holder will play a major role in promoting education, creativity, and inclusivity within the University and beyond.
Successful candidates will be appointed on the appropriate salary scale at the first point or in line with current Government pay policy, commensurate with experience.
