Role Description
Are you passionate about working with wildlife? Come and join our team of dedicated and likeminded people whose mission it is to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured or orphaned native wildlife.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of care for the wildlife at the centre. You must feel comfortable in a fast-paced dynamic environment and working flexible hours (during peak season, this means an early start 7am or a late finish 10pm). Capable of admitting animals, assisting with the treatment of injuries and adhereing to a treatment plan.
Required Skills & Qualification
* Qualification in animal care and/or relevant experience working with animals
* Experience handling different species
* Experience hand rearing orphaned animals
* Knowledge of animal behaviour
* Physical stamina
* Ability to work well in a small team of volunteers, staff and management
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Willingness to work some weekends, early mornings, late evenings, bank holidays when required
* Full driving license and access to a car (transport of animals to vets as well as for releases)
Tasks
* Animal welfare: feeding, cleaning and disinfecting enclosures, equipment, and making sure the Centre is tidy and clean.
* Monitoring inventory and proactively flagging requirements
* Patient monitoring: observing animals for signs of illness, distress, or abnormal behaviour an eporting findings to veterinary nurse/managemen
* Filling in and updating paperwork both physical paperwork and database
* Providing enrichment for the animals, creating new perches and improving enclosure
* Transport animals to vets and for rescues/releases
