Responsibilities for Health & Safety Officer
1. Collaborate with the site management team to uphold best-in-class safety practices.
2. Implement and maintain the company's Health & Safety Management System.
3. Proactively identify site-specific hazards and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
4. Liaise regularly with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure alignment on compliance standards.
5. Keep statutory health & safety documentation accurate and up to date.
6. Enforce compliance with site regulations and all relevant legal requirements.
7. Contribute to the creation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
8. Carry out regular site inspections and audits, resolving any non-conformances.
9. Support incident investigations and assist in developing preventative strategies.
10. Deliver toolbox talks and regular safety briefings to site personnel.
11. Monitor training requirements and coordinate safety training for both direct staff and subcontractors.
Requirements for Health & Safety Officer
12. Minimum 3 years' experience in a dedicated health & safety role within the construction sector.
13. Recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
14. IOSH membership is advantageous.
15. In-depth knowledge of construction safety legislation and risk mitigation strategies.
16. Strong ability to work autonomously while integrating with project teams.
17. Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
18. Experience leading safety meetings, presentations, and training sessions.
