Senior Planner - Transportation
Overview
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Planner to join its Transportation team in Ireland. This role offers the opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects, supporting programme delivery across the full project lifecycle.
The Role
Develop, monitor and update project programmes using planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project
Prepare cost and resource-loaded programmes to support forecasting, tracking and performance management
Produce regular progress reports, dashboards and programme updates for project teams and stakeholders
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify risks, constraints and mitigation strategies
Maintain and manage project baselines to support contractual and performance requirements
Support project teams in applying NEC contract processes, including early warnings, compensation events and programme submissions
Lead and facilitate planning meetings and workshops to challenge performance and drive programme improvements
Provide critical path analysis and scenario planning to optimise delivery and mitigate delays
Deliver clear presentations and briefings to senior stakeholders on programme status, risks and impacts
Produce advanced reporting outputs, including Earned Value Management (EVM)
Undertake delay analysis using industry-recognised techniques
Carry out schedule quality assessments in line with industry standards
Support integration of schedule, cost and risk to ensure effective project controls
About You
Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
Understanding of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts
Familiarity with other contract forms such as GCC and FIDIC (desirable)
Experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or large-scale construction environments
Rail experience (desirable but not essential)
Experience working in a client-side or consultancy environment
Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
