Vacancy for Digital Archivist/Librarian at the National Library of Ireland
The National Library of Ireland is currently inviting applications for a Digital Archivist/Librarian position. This role will support the Library's strategic objective of expanding its collections and developing holistic processes for acquiring contemporary materials.
About the Role
The successful candidate will join the Digital Collections department, which comprises IT professionals, librarians, archivists, software developers, digitization operatives, and a digital preservation manager. The team handles both digitized and born digital content, with a focus on collecting representatively and inclusively to capture the diversity of Irish experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development of holistic processes for acquiring contemporary materials
* Contribute to the expansion of the range of formats collected by the NLI
* Collaborate with the Digital Collections department to develop inclusive collection strategies
* Work with IT professionals to ensure seamless integration of digital collections into the Library's infrastructure
Requirements
* Relevant qualification in librarianship, archive studies, or a related field
* Experience working with digital collections and archives
* Strong understanding of digital preservation principles and practices
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis at Assistant Keeper Grade 2 Level. The role will involve working in a dynamic team environment, with opportunities for professional development and growth.
