Analysing market behaviour is a significant activity, given the scale of money being transacted, ~ €5bn per annum, and the size of datasets generated. The markets operate on a 365-day basis and generate significant datasets down to five-minute resolution.The Market Operations Function want to recruit individuals who are interested in advancing their career in the energy industry. Creating a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence that drives technical and process innovation is central to delivery in this role and the successful candidate will play a key role in leading functions, and both driving and supporting transformative change across the Directorate.This role works collaboratively across the Group, engaging effectively with key stakeholders, to ensure high performance operations and bring about change necessary to deliver on our strategic ambitions.The role requires a senior operational leader who is innovative, solution-focussed, resilient and motivated who will play a key role in leading the day-to-day operations and ensuring operational excellence within Market Operations functions.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Lead Analyst will have responsibility for the Market Surveillance, SEM Imbalance Pricing, Fuel Mix Disclosure and Guarantees of Origin functions within Market Operations.For These Functions They WillLead the day-to-day operations of each function including co-ordinating work and providing support, guidance and a point of escalation.Represent Market Operations to inform, influence and manage relationships with European working groups and committees, Government Departments, Regulators and the SEM Market Monitor and other areas within EirGrid Group.Act as a technical specialist and lead on the analytical work needed to support analysis and monitoring of the Single Electricity Market (SEM).Lead the implementation of operational change stemming from national or European policies and legislation – including European Network Codes and Guidelines, Renewable Energy Directives, Statutory Instruments, Climate Action Plan, Clean Energy Package, Trading and Settlement Code, and Capacity Market CodeSupport the development of the SEM markets and Trading and Settlement Code Rules through drafting of rule changes, technical/financial analysis and leading engagement with the Regulatory Authorities and Market Participants.Lead the building of capability and resilience within the team, and support the wider Market Operations building capabilityAct as champion for data, automation and AI technology integrationBe responsible inputs to the audit processes and resolution of any findings.Develop and maintain best practice tools, business processes and reporting arrangements to support the functions.Provide mentoring / training and subject matter expertise support within Market Operations and across the broader EirGrid Group.Lead the governance and management of data across the wider Market Operations directorate.About YouSuccessful candidates will have:Relevant third level qualification, typically with 5+ years relevant experience in a challenging commercial environmentDemonstrated ability to continuously improve ways of workExcellent analysis, judgement and problem-solving skills along with a conclusive ability to make decisions and recommendations in a changing and dynamic environmentOutstanding organisational skills, commercial awareness and a proven track record of deliveryAbility to work effectively as part of a team, flexible and able to use own initiative to develop and execute own projects whilst under minimal supervisionExperience in successfully co-ordinating the work of team membersExperience in leading regulatory engagementsProven experience in delivering process improvement, change management and the automation of routine tasks into operational businesses.Closing date for applications6th February 2026We value potential as much as experience.
