Cairn has a unique opportunity for a high-calibre Landscape Planning & Design Manager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and diverse team. We are seeking an experienced and confident landscape & urban design professional to oversee landscape planning and management across Cairn's development sites.
The Landscape Planning & Design Manager will collaborate with the landscape & urban design department and site teams to ensure high standards of landscape planning and placemaking. The role includes overseeing the integration of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) through landscape delivery to maximize ecological and community value.
The manager will oversee landscape planning, BNG, and a portion of landscape delivery across Cairn's portfolio, reporting to the Head of Landscape and Urban Design.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor, track, and report on various landscape projects at different stages, including planning, BNG, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction.
* Contribute to design development and placemaking for key developments.
* Implement and oversee biodiversity strategies aligned with BNG principles across all sites.
* Manage landscape tendering and contractor appointments.
* Supervise landscape implementation on multiple sites, engaging proactively with contractors and project teams.
* Oversee handover processes to management companies, authorities, and purchasers.
* Supervise ongoing landscape maintenance under Cairn’s management.
* Support Customer Care in addressing landscape-related queries.
* Maintain inspection records and manage fallow sites within Cairn’s land bank.
* Lead innovative landscape projects.
* This role will be multi-site based.
The Candidate:
* Level 8 qualification in Landscape Architecture.
* Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience.
* Experience managing large-scale residential landscape projects from concept to planning approval.
* Experience overseeing construction and handover stages of large residential landscapes.
* Strong focus on placemaking and creating a sense of place.
* Experience managing landscape contracts.
* Extensive knowledge of soft and hard landscape materials.
* Commercial understanding of the landscape industry and procurement processes.
* Knowledge of site operations, liaising with local authorities, and coordinating with design teams.
* Full clean driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
