A little more about your role…

We are looking for a talented individual to take on the role of Cost Centre Manager for Ireland within the Ground and Water Team incorporating staff in Ireland and India in relation to the Environment business with services covering contaminated land, nature services, environmental consenting and geotechnical. Candidates should have strong people management, leadership and interpersonal qualities and strong business management experience. The role of Cost Centre Manager is an integral part of the leadership team in our market-leading Ground and Water team, shaping and influencing the direction and growth of the team alongside specialist team leaders.

The Role

* Delivery of the cost centre budget (utilisation, net revenue and EBITDA), whilst ensuring that there is sufficient investment in business development and technical training to meet the evolving demands of the market and to deliver professional development for staff. This will be achieved through the implementation of efficient and effective management and via collaboration with the senior leadership team, the Discipline Ops leadership and Service Line Director.
* Supporting the four Team Leads (Contaminated Land, Environmental Consenting, Nature Services and Geotechnical) to grow and develop in line with strategies whilst ensuing drive of a commercial focus through the team at all stages in the project lifecycle, to ensure target multipliers are achieved and where change control is effectively managed.
* Appointing, monitoring and managing Project Directors to deliver projects that meet our requirements on H&S, finance, client satisfaction, quality.
* Ensure a culture of support and inclusion with regards to health and safety, working with the Health and Safety Lead to ensure Risk Assessment Method Statements, including any Safety Critical Activities, are comprehensively completed for all site visits and to the required standard. 
* Ensuring the team is organised and managed in such a way as to optimise performance and facilitate career development and career progression, by ensuring that the right people are doing the right things and that these align with business objectives and personal development goals.
* Develop, foster and maintain a 'one team' ethos and outlook to establish a sense of a shared ownership of business performance successes and challenges.
* Leading on recruitment activities in association with the Team Leads and Sector Leads to drive organic growth.
* Supporting bidding and opportunities across the team to maintain our broad portfolio of projects and reach additional clients and sectors. This will be in close collaboration with the Growth Lead/ Sector Leads/Technical Lead, where applicable.
* Pursue a right first-time approach to project delivery by driving a culture of technical excellence, again to be achieved through close collaboration with the Team Leads and measured through client satisfaction. Ensures that all projects are reviewed and of a high standard.
* Driving sustainable growth of the team, by overseeing the strengthening of the project and sales pipelines, through collaboration with the Team Leads, Sector Leads and Sector Teams through cross-selling and Key Account Management.
* Oversees behaviours and processes to build a climate of excellent customer management.
* Optimising GCC deployment and integration within the Irish team, and seeking to expand the scale of the GCC operations
* Ensure Projects First targets are achieved by individuals and for the cost centre overall.
* Ensuring each team member has access to monthly 1:1 meetings that covers wellbeing, performance (particularly against Projects First) and personal development.
* Minimising time lost to non-value adding activities and focusing business development time to maximise the amount of time the team must focus on clients and projects.
* Maintaining employee engagement and ensuring that employee turnover is in line with business targets. Uses WSP Listens engagement surveys to address issues and support retention.
* Maintaining a culture of openness, honesty, trust and respect – in a team where lines of accountability and responsibility are clear and understood.
* Own and deliver the Service Team Strategy that will ensure the team is Future Ready and prominent in the marketplace.
* Regularly engage with team members through strong office presence. 
* Uphold and promote the WSP values on HSSE, diversity, inclusion and equality.

* The ability to establish effective working relationships with executive stakeholders.
* Strong organisational skills – can effectively manage several projects concurrently, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
* The ability to deal with conflicting priorities and to offer positive solution, whilst working in an agile way to meet the requirements of the business.
