We provide private residential, convalescent, and rehabilitative care in our purpose-built Nursing Homes. We have centres in Dublin, Meath, Louth, Kildare, Kilkenny, and Cavan. We are looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our dynamic team and lead the Care Team in providing the best possible care in Suncroft Lodge Nursing Home based just outside The Curragh in Co. Kildare.
Role Summary
The appointed person will assist the Director of Nursing in the overall operations and day-to-day running of the home. The appointed person will assist the Director in the efficient management of resources, the assignment of work, and monitoring the quality of staff performance. The appointed person will assume the role of person in charge in the absence of the Director of Nursing. The post is full time and permanent following a probationary period of six months.
Qualifications
Registered with An Bord Altranais.
Minimum of five years post-registration experience.
Knowledge of all relevant legislation and HIQA Standards for Residential Care Settings.
Prior experience as an ADON is necessary.
The Post Holder Will
Assist the Director of Nursing in the clinical care of patients and operation of the home.
Promote an organisational culture incorporating person-centred care principles.
Assist residents, where possible, to maintain independence and avoid unnecessary hospitalization, liaising with clients and families as required, to promote wellbeing and healthy lifestyle.
Demonstrate clinical expertise in care of persons in our Care and be cognisant of best practice.
Assist the Director of Nursing to manage resources efficiently and effectively to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Supervise the daily management of the home, undertaking nursing rounds.
Facilitate team building and motivation.
Ensure policies, procedures, and standards are developed, revised, and implemented.
Possess in-depth knowledge of all legislative requirements for meeting HIQA National Standards.
Key Duties
Clinical Governance
Assume role of Person in Charge in absence of the Director of Nursing.
Develop and evaluate quality initiatives and clinical audits to ensure best quality of services and practices.
Monitor and investigate complaints, untoward incidents and near misses.
Encourage and facilitate staff innovation in nursing practice.
Provide clinical support and mentorship to qualified nurses, assessing competency levels.
Adhere to An Bord Altranais Professional Guidelines for Nurses working with Older People.
Human Resources
Implement annual staff development and performance review.
Manage staff rosters, sickness and absenteeism in accordance with company policies.
Supervise CNMs, Nurses and Care Assistants clinically.
Assist with recruitment, interviewing and selection of staff.
Education
Ensure staff receive induction, orientation and appropriate training programmes and seminars.
Facilitate learning from practice through reflection and critical incident analysis.
Assist the DON in developing and maintaining a staff training programme, including delivery of training.
Self Development
Be cognisant of latest developments in health care and nursing practice and maintain a professional portfolio.
Attend and participate in conferences, seminars and other research/educational activities regionally.

It is a condition of employment that staff will not disclose any information obtained during the course of their work other than those entitled to receive it.
