You find immense purpose in analyzing and evaluating information in front of you and are constantly looking to improve outcomes through enhanced testing, application optimization and creative problem solving.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist in the sales process by evaluating our brands with applications and materials, recommend products and conduct customer visits to observe and develop application techniques, trials, audits and presentations.Provide field sales with technical data, test results, graphs, and reports, conduct customer and distributor technical product training. Support sales & marketing and R&D to generate and analyze lab data to identify product gaps, new product launches.Test competitive products against ITW portfolio products to determine technical gaps, Value Propositions for specific customer projects or problems and historical data.Work independently in field and in our laboratories or in multi-functional teams to evaluate our current products for specific applications and enable business realization.Ability to travel to help support customers for product application trials, troubleshooting, technical presentations at trade shows, conducting webinars, and emergency customer support when needed.Maintain an electronic database to record Technical Service data, authors technical reports, and maintains/updates technical data sheet updates on websites.Answer phone and electronic inquiries from the website or CMI programs to provide product selections or trouble shoot application issues.Promote, support, and adhere to all safety, environmental and quality related policies and procedures.Qualifications, Skills & CompetenciesBachelor of Science or higher in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.5-8 years of industrial experience preferred in coatings, adhesives, and/or polymeric materials. Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Material evaluation experience, including both destructive and non-destructive testing, as well as analyzing results, failure modes, and behavioral cause/effect.Concise technical presentation skills.Strong computer and Microsoft Office SkillsTraveling up to 20%.Ability to lift to 50 pounds for equipment part and customer substrate handling and ability to work in tight places on occasion.
