TheDirector of Financesupports the Chief Executivein advancing the physical, economic,socialand cultural life of the County and in developing and overseeing the organisational structures and resources neededto deliver an extensive range of services to the public in a cost effective and efficient manner.
The Finance Department deals with theshort- and long-termfinancing of the County Council's operations, both of a revenue and capital nature.
It leads and manages an effective and responsive financial service to support service delivery.
The Director of Finance manages large teams and budgets.
They will be requiredto manage and lead their functional areas in a strategic manner and implement change programmes.
Organisational innovation and continuous improvement are significant priorities for Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council,as the development and use of smart technologies used to enhance service delivery.
Main Duties of the Job
Provide advice, support and guidance to the County Councillors, the Council's Finance Strategic Policy Committee and its Audit Committee.
A leadership/advisory role in ensuring the financial probity of theorganisation.
Creating and supporting a culture in which non-financial managers take responsibility for effective management of devolvedresources.
Preparation,implementationand ongoing review of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council's Finance plans.
Sourcing of finance and formulation of financial arrangements in the context of partnerships, new funding ventures and Public Private Partnerships should and where theyarise.
Development of the strategic finance function through the delivery of the statutory Local Authority Revenue Budget and 3 year Capital Programme that underpinsthe delivery of services / projects and supports the management of resources.

Salary Scale effective from 1st February ****:
Hours of attendance will be fixed from time to time but will amount to not less than 35 hours gross per week.
The annual leave allowance for the position of Director of Finance is 30 days.
