Role overviewCooney's Home Interiors are seeking a friendly, customer-focused Retail Sales Assistant to join our busy Christmas shop team. This is a seasonal role with the possibility of a full-time position for the right candidate. You will help customers choose Christmas lights, trees and decorations, operate the till, and ensure every customer has an excellent in-store experience.Roles and responsibilitiesWelcome customers to the Christmas shop and provide helpful, friendly service.Advise customers on Christmas trees, lights, decorations and accessories, matching products to their needs and budget.Operate the till accurately, handling cash and card payments, processing refunds and issuing receipts.Maintain a clean, well-presented shop floor, ensuring products are well stocked, priced and attractively displayed.Answer customer queries in person and by phone in clear, fluent English.Assist with unpacking, pricing and merchandising new stock.Help manage queues and customer flow during busy periods.Follow store policies and procedures, including opening/closing routines and basic security checks.Support the management team with any other reasonable duties required in a fast-paced seasonal environment.The personFluent English, spoken and written, with clear communication skills.Previous till / cash-handling experience in retail is essential.Friendly, approachable and genuinely customer-focused.Reliable, punctual and able to cope in a very busy, fast-paced Christmas environment.Strong attention to detail, especially with pricing, scanning items and handling payments.Team player who can also work on their own initiative when the shop is busy.Positive "can do" attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for customers.Flexible to work weekdays, late nights and weekends as required during the Christmas season.An interest in Christmas décor, interiors or retail is an advantage but not essential.Problem-solving: able to resolve basic customer issues (wrong size, exchanges, minor complaints) calmly and professionally.Sales mindset: comfortable suggesting add-on items (e.g. timers, extension leads, extra decorations) to help the customer and increase basket value.Physical stamina: able to stand for long periods, lift boxes and move stock safely.how to apply,Please apply by sending:Your CVA short cover note explaining why you'd be a good fit for the Seasonal Retail Sales Assistant / Customer Service role in the Christmas shopPlease note: You must be available to start immediately.
