Reports to: Engineering Manager.About the RoleWe are looking for a passionate and eager Graduate Java Developer to join our Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with up to 2 years of experience (including internships or academic projects) to gain hands-on exposure to enterprise-level development, modern APIs, and cloud-native technologies. Our platform consists of multiple distributed services which process millions of requests per hour. You will work closely with experienced developers on projects that involve transitioning legacy systems to modern microservices using Spring Boot and AWS.Key ResponsibilitiesAPI Development: Assist in building and testing REST APIs using Spring BootAPI Integration: Support integration of new REST services with existing SOAP-based systemsAPI Design Collaboration: Collaborate on API design using tools like Swagger HubCloud & Microservices ExposureGain hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS ECSParticipate in the deployment and monitoring of microservices on AWSLearn about Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormationTesting & Code QualityWrite basic unit and integration tests using JUnit and MockitoWork with senior developers to debug and improve system reliabilityContribute to code reviews and continuous integration pipelinesTeam Collaboration & LearningParticipate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and agile ceremoniesPair with mentors to grow technical and problem-solving skillsDemonstrate a proactive approach to learning new tools and technologiesRequired Skills & Qualifications0–2 years of Java development experience (including academic or internship projects)Basic understanding of Spring Boot and RESTful API developmentFamiliarity with JSON and basic HTTP conceptsWillingness to learn about SOAP-to-REST migrations and microservicesExposure to or interest in cloud platforms such as AWSExperience with Git and basic CI/CD practicesFoundational knowledge of unit testing with JUnit or similar toolsStrong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn in a team environmentCompleted a BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related disciplinePreferred SkillsFamiliarity with Swagger, Postman, or similar API toolsExposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS ECS during coursework or projectsInterest in DevOps, monitoring, or cloud infrastructureUnderstanding of authentication protocols (e.g., OAuth2, JWT)About DatalexDatalex's purpose is to transform airline retail.
